Location

Near the centre of the island and one and a half miles from the sea front, Villa d’Oro is particularly well suited to the many walkers and cyclists who use the green lane network which crisscrosses the island and starts just across the road.

Villa d’Oro is situated on La Grande Route de St Laurent (A10) in the attractive rural village of St Lawrence.

The local shop, pub and church are within easy walking distance.

Driving Instructions

Directions from Harbour:

Exit Elizabeth Terminal and head north along La Route du Port Elizabeth through first round-about and on to second round-about, turn left onto Route de la Liberation which meets the Esplanade, carry on west along Victoria Avenue (A2) dual carriageway along the seafront. Once on the dual carriageway, continue until you reach the 2nd set of traffic lights. Turn onto the A10 north for a short distance until the next junction, turn right and first sharp left into Le Mont Felard. Proceed up the hill and continue for approximately 1 mile. The Villa d’Oro is on the right hand side as you enter the village, before the pub (British Union) on the right and the church on the left. Should you overshoot, turn left between the cemetery and the church (La Route de L’Eglise) and follow it around the first sharp right hand corner then take the next right between the church and the parish hall. This will bring you back onto the A10 just above the pub. Turn right again and you’ll find Villa d’Oro is 50 metres past the pub, now on your left.

Directions from Airport:

Leave Airport terminal. At round-about head straight across and proceed along L’Avenue de la Reine Elizabeth (B36). At next round-about turn right onto Route de Beaumont (A12) and carry on until you reach next round-about (filter-in-turn, then turn left onto La Route de la Haule which joins onto the dual carriageway Victoria Avenue (A2)after approximately one mail. At the first set of traffic lights turn left onto A10 (La Motte Ford Garage should make the corner on left hand side) at next junction turn right then turn first sharp left into Le Mont Felard. Proceed up the hill and continue for approximately 1 mile. The Villa d’Oro is on the right hand side as you enter the village, before the pub (British Union) on the right and the church on the left. Should you overshoot, turn left between the cemetery and the church (La Route de L’Eglise) and follow it around the first sharp right hand corner then tke the next right between the church and the parish hall. This will bring you back onto the A10 just above the pub. Turn right again and you’ll find Villa d’Oro is 50 metres past the pub, now on your left.

By Bus:

The bus from St Helier (Liberation Station) to Devil’s Hole passes Villa d’Oro regularly. The stop to go to town is literally outside my fence and the stop from town or to the north is across the road.

From Liberation Station St Helier is number 27 and from St Lawrence to Liberation Station, number 25.

Timetables and network maps are available in the guest sitting room or at mybus.je.

Also available here are one, three, five or seven day bus passes.

By Foot or Bicycle:

If you are riding your bikes or walking I suggest you do not come up the road marked A10 (La Grande Route de St Laurent) as it is very steep, narrow and busy at the bottom.

I recommend using the road marked C118 (Le Chemin des Moulins/Waterworks Valley), left up Le Mont de la Chenaie then left into La Rue des Corvees, left into La Grande Route de St Laurent then travel south for ¾ kilometre into St Lawrence village. Villa d’Oro is 50mtrs on the left past the British Union pub.

Travel Links

We are happy to arrange travel for you using our agent, Channel Islands Travel Service and occasionally we can obtain favourable ferry prices through our special relationship with Condor Ferries.

It has to be said though, the age of the Internet has opened up this once closed market and more often than not, better deals can be found if you book directly online – something we cannot do for you.

Several airlines offer scheduled services to Jersey and Condor Ferries offer daily sailings from Poole, Portsmouth or Weymouth.

Regardless of how you book, we strongly advise you take out travel insurance at the time you book your holiday against cancellation, postponement or any unforeseen difficulty. Jersey is an island and subject to the vagaries of the weather which occasionally doesn’t play fair. Any payments made are generally not refunded.

Hire Cars

There are several hire car companies on the island and as with the flights, we are happy to book a car on your behalf but please check on the internet for prices taking care to read the small print for insurance – when added in on collection it can increase the cost.

We choose Avis as they have always offered very good service.

Bikes

We use mad (in a good way!) cycling enthusiast Aarons Jersey Bike Hire to supply bikes for your use. Delivery is included in the cost of hire and we need to give him 12 – 24 hours notice so he can drop the bikes here.
